Pulterit ry is a joint subject organization of geology students of the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University, founded in 1960. The aim of the association is to promote the common interests of its members at the university level both in studies and in working life. Through its activities, the association promotes the mental well-being of its members in connection with studies and other matters such as livelihood and health, and also directs them to the services available. The association is responsible for monitoring and promoting the interests of its members’ studies and training, and for bringing the members’ opinions to the attention of the department staff. The association provides its members with diverse activities that meet its needs and support their studies in order to preserve the spirit of community, comfort and traditions, ensuring that activities are carried out for all members of the association. Pulterit ry works closely with companies and other subject organizations of the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University, as well as with the University of Helsinki Geological Club Vasara ry and the University of Oulu Geological Club Nikoli ry.
The membership of the association annually elects a new board, which organizes the activities of the association. The hallmark of the association is its purple color and in the student life geology students can be recognized by their gray overalls. Pulterit ry’s office is located in Geotalo, Turku, at Akatemiankatu 1.
